"Reflections on a Winter Afternoon offers music to ruminate on the barren landscape

of the deepest and darkest months of the year.

By considering the crispness of the air, the sharpness of the chill, and the stillness of the ground, this music for voice and piano encourages the listener to recognize the importance of natural cycles of growth and decay.

These sweeping and contemplative melodies straddle the line between ancient and new, foreign and familiar.

The seasonal dormancies depicted here share much in common with the loneliest moments of the human experience: unassuming and meek, yet pregnant with latent potential.

It is my hope that through this program, we may together develop a fresh appreciation for the inertia of winter and uncover beauty in the unlikeliest of places - underneath the blanket of the sleeping earth."
